Plugins Make the World Go Round
The best part about WordPress is that it’s really lightweight. Of course, it doesn’t always do everything you need it to do right out of the box, and that’s what plugins are for. I love looking at other sites’ plugins… so here’s the ones I personally use.
Visible Plugins
- Compact Monthly Archive
Because long lists of months and years are SO five years ago. Visible on my archives page. - Identify External Links
I like to know when I’m wandering away from a site. You should too. Visible on nearly every page. - Official Comments
My comments aren’t necessarily more important than yours… just more flashy. Visible on all pages with comments. - Random Quotes
Some are LOL worthy, some make you think, and some are just plain random. Visible at the bottom of the sidebar. - Random Redirect
If you’re tired of reading this blog in order, click this. Visible near the bottom of the sidebar. - SRG Clean Archives
Every post, every month… a little easier to handle. Visible on my archives page. - WP Contact Form
For people that would rather email than leave a comment. Hey, that’s cool! Visible on my contact page.
Invisible Plugins
- Akismet
Never, never leave home without it. Prevents spam. - Dofollow
Disables nofollow… which is like extra credit in the link department. Shh. - No Self Pings
Nothing like getting excited because someone linked to your site… only to find out that it was you. - Search History
Stalkstalkstalk. Be aware I can see everything you search for.
